About the Phonics Programme
This Department of Education SSIF funded project aims to improve pupils’ mastery of basic phonic knowledge to develop speed and fluency so that the children become confident, mature readers with a passion for reading. The schools in our programme will develop a high level of expertise through the training of 54 Phonics Champion Teachers and 54 Phonics Champion Teaching Assistants. We have also recruited 22 Phonics Specialist Leaders of Education to work with the individual schools, ensuring high levels of school to school support.
It is our intention that all of the training modules and resources that are developed will be made available to supported schools and schools from outside the programme through this website. If you would like to access these resources please contact us directly.
